Product Description

Prospex PADI Special Edition Solar Analog-Digital Divers Watch. Designed for those who treat life as the ultimate adventure, Seiko Prospex keeps moving forward, meeting every challenge with technological excellence and winning design. Celebrating the partnership between Seiko Prospex and PADI, the worlds leading scuba diver training organization, this Special Edition features the new H855 caliber movement, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the H558-5000, introduced in 1982 as the worlds first analog-digital hydrid divers watch with an alarm and chronograph. Essential equipment for the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition during the early 80s and on the Japan/China/Nepal teams 1988 Mt. Everest challenge, this iconic watch also gained a cult following as an 80s action movie favorite. Upgraded to meet the special demands of deep sea diving, this new design includes such indispensable functions as a diving log, depth meter with auto start and sudden ascent alarm, and a water temperature measurement function, and follows ISO standards for scuba diving. The black globe-pattern dial, with LumiBrite hands and markers and vivid, highly legible blue accents, offers an enlarged digital display for improved visibility of the chronograph, alarm, time, date, local time, and power reserve readouts. Lightweight as well as durable, this rugged stainless steel timepiece also has a matte black outer case protector and a black silicone strap, and features a screw-down crown, pushers and caseback, along with a uni-directional rotating elapsed timing bezel. The energy-efficient solar cell, powered by any light source, with no battery change required, provides a 6-month power reserve when fully charged. 200m Water Resistant

Brand History

Seiko, founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo, began as a watch and clock repair shop before launching its first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913. The Seiko brand debuted in 1924, symbolizing precision and craftsmanship. In 1969, Seiko revolutionized the industry with the Seiko Astron, the world’s first quartz wristwatch. The company also pioneered technologies like the Kinetic in the 1980s and Spring Drive in 1999, blending mechanical elegance with quartz accuracy. Today, Seiko is renowned for its innovations and diverse offerings, from affordable watches to high-end models under its Grand Seiko line.
