Product Description

“Coco,” the beloved Disney and Pixar film, is a celebration of Mexican culture that reminds us of the power of family connection and the importance of pursuing your dreams. The new Disney | Citizen Sugar Skull timepiece beautifully expresses these themes on the art-filled black dial set with crystals and gold-tone hands. The dial’s lush border is filled with symbolic details, including marigolds that compose the bridge that takes our hero, Miguel, to the Land of the Dead and guitars that represent his musical gifts. Prominent at the dial’s top and bottom are sugar skulls that are placed on altars during Día de los Muertos as offerings to deceased loved ones. A black IP stainless steel case and bracelet add elegance, and Eco-Drive technology adds sustainability: The watch is powered by any light and never needs a battery.

Brand History

In the Japan of the 1920s, most of the watches sold were pocket watches imported from overseas. Determined to create a Japan-made rival product, the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, the precursor of CITIZEN, launched its own pocket watch in 1924. As a first product, it was magnificent—but it lacked a name. Tokyo Mayor Count Shinpei Goto was asked to suggest one. The name he came up with was “CITIZEN,” an expression of the hope that as many people as possible—citizens—would use and cherish the watch for a long time.
