Product Description

Functional and practical, modern and sporty–the Series8 880 GMT is the perfect companion for daily wear to spirited travel, and everything in between. Featuring a silver-tone stainless... steel 41mm case with a blue- and white-tone bi-directional bezel, the model highlights the best of our brushed and polished finishing techniques. Water resistant to 100m and able to withstand magnetic fields up to 16,000 A/m, the watch is powered by the high-performance Caliber 9054, with the mechanism allowing for local and travel time displays alongside an independently set hour hand. The automatic GMT movement is visible through a sapphire exhibition case back and is capable of maintaining an accuracy of +20 / -10 seconds per day with a frequency of 28,800 v/h and a power reserve of 50 hours. A tapered, integrated silver-tone stainless steel H-link bracelet secures the watch to the wrist, with its design following the aesthetic of the case via the use of polished and brushed facets. Beneath a sapphire crystal, the watch’s textured blue dial features applied indices and lume-filled hands, each working together to offer incredible legibility alongside a utility-driven 3 o'clock date window; an orange-tipped hand assists in keeping track of multiple time zones.

Brand History

In the Japan of the 1920s, most of the watches sold were pocket watches imported from overseas. Determined to create a Japan-made rival product, the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, the precursor of CITIZEN, launched its own pocket watch in 1924. As a first product, it was magnificent—but it lacked a name. Tokyo Mayor Count Shinpei Goto was asked to suggest one. The name he came up with was “CITIZEN,” an expression of the hope that as many people as possible—citizens—would use and cherish the watch for a long time.
