Product Description

Capturing the essence of exploration in the air, on land, or at sea, the Promaster line celebrates its 35th anniversary of professional-grade adventure with a new limited edition series. This new Promaster Dive Automatic joins the limited edition series, recalling classic Citizen dive aesthetics with modern dive-ready technology. The stylish, new diver features a lightweight and scratch-resistant Super Titanium™ case with platinum DLC measuring 41mm, with polished and brushed finishing across its facets and a matching triple-link bracelet providing a durable look. The retro design is based on a 1977 Citizen Challenge Diver that was found covered in barnacles and still ticking on an Australian beach in 1983 after being submerged in the ocean for years. That history has inspired the modern Promaster Mechanical Diver and given it the affectionate nickname, Fujitsubo – Japanese for barnacle. The watch's dial and uni-directional bezel feature a marine blue color, with the display making use of embossed hands and a classic green luminous for a vintage feel. The professional-grade timepiece is powered by an advanced automatic movement that boasts enhanced magnetic resistance to protect against interference from everyday devices, as well as a 42-hour power reserve. This high-performance watch comes in an exclusive blue collector’s dive tank box, is ISO compliant and water resistant to 200 meters. Caliber number 9051. Limited to 4,500 unnumbered pieces worldwide.

Brand History

In the Japan of the 1920s, most of the watches sold were pocket watches imported from overseas. Determined to create a Japan-made rival product, the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, the precursor of CITIZEN, launched its own pocket watch in 1924. As a first product, it was magnificent—but it lacked a name. Tokyo Mayor Count Shinpei Goto was asked to suggest one. The name he came up with was “CITIZEN,” an expression of the hope that as many people as possible—citizens—would use and cherish the watch for a long time.
