Product Description

Citizen pays homage to Disney’s animated feature film The Little Mermaid with a new special edition Disney Princess Ariel Box Set, complete with a...mesmerizing watch and a special collectible pin of a seashell. The rose gold-tone stainless steel case and faceted green crystal bezel add dimension, making it reminiscent of one of Ariel’s undersea treasures. The dial with date features a rich underwater green shade with a delicate watercolor-style illustration of Ariel swimming. Accenting the dial display is a pattern of musical notes with rose gold-tone teardrop hour markers, representing Ariel's voice. Ariel’s spirit is represented by an inscription on the case back reading, “Making waves my way.” The watch is powered by any light with Eco-Drive technology and never needs a battery.

Brand History

In the Japan of the 1920s, most of the watches sold were pocket watches imported from overseas. Determined to create a Japan-made rival product, the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, the precursor of CITIZEN, launched its own pocket watch in 1924. As a first product, it was magnificent—but it lacked a name. Tokyo Mayor Count Shinpei Goto was asked to suggest one. The name he came up with was “CITIZEN,” an expression of the hope that as many people as possible—citizens—would use and cherish the watch for a long time.
